What’s the different between the Kork and the Kork-Vac?
Superfeet Kork is a little thicker in volume and will take up more room in the boot. The Kork full-length top sheet is molded from a 3/16″ thick sheet of Kork. This makes the product a little denser and offers a little more support. The Kork-Vac full-length top sheet is molded from 3/16″ foam. Because we’ve chosen to use foam full-length it takes up less room in the boot and offers a softer ride.
Why does it cost so much?
Custom orthotics made by doctors can cost anywhere from $400 to $500, while Superfeet custom insoles may start around $60 and go up to around $200 depending on the model. The custom Kork is specifically designed for skiing and snowboarding and takes about one hour to make. The Kork product in a ski boot and snowboard boot can last from 5 to 7 years. Taking into consideration the time to make it and the longevity of the product, the Custom Kork is reasonably priced.
Generally it is a good idea to replace the Kork every 5 years because the equipment and the foot may have changed due to weight gain or weight loss, fatigue, stress, or injury.
